About Dr. Persinger

Dr. Persinger received his bachelor’s degree In Biology from the University of Virginia and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant University. He completed his post-doctoral internship at the Sonoma County Department of Mental Health.

He has had a general outpatient private practice at the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Santa Rosa since 1982. In addition, he has worked as a staff psychologist in the Chronic Pain Management Program at Kaiser, Santa Rosa, since 1995.

His areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, life-stress, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain and other chronic medical conditions, sleep disorders, dissociative disorders and psychosomatic disorders.

His specialty training includes Behavioral Medicine, Clinical Hypnosis, Solutions-Based Brief Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Meditation/Stress Reduction, and Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapy.

He is particularly interested in integrating these approaches into a coherent mind-body therapy for people with both psycho-emotional and physical problems.
